Why diets don't work?

Diets don’t work!

We have known this for decades, yet people try them year after year, each time believing that this diet, the one the Stars are raving about, will work.

Yet every long-term study has shown that less than 2% of dieters manage to lose a significant amount of weight, 20 pounds or more, and to keep it off for 2 years…

LESS THAN 2%…

Why don’t diets work?

Let’s look at the first thing a dieter must do: they must deprive themselves…

They reduce their calorie intake and they fight against their cravings.

The problem with doing that is that this process is creating a new hole into the person’s life: before you were sad, lonely, and bored. Now you are sad, lonely and bored AND starving.

Adding misery will ONLY compound the problem.

Making yourself feel worse just never works.

Emotions can override hunger or make it unnaturally strong.

That is why addressing the Emotions behind the overhunger and overdesire is essential.

A bucket of buttered popcorn triggers powerful, primitive brain mechanisms; the prospect of jogging instead doesn’t!

Sharing dessert with your friends at a cozy restaurant feels convivial and comforting. Running on the treadmill by yourself doesn’t!

Failure is built into the whole diet scheme.

You’re doomed before you’ve even started.

So how can you beat the old habit, lose weight and never slip again???

That is the work I do with my clients.

Providing them all the unique nutritional tools I learned growing up in Paris, and doing, from a place of compassion and non-judgement, the mental work to retrain their brain to new and healthier habits.

That mind-body work is ESSENTIAL.

When the mind-body is working properly, your body tells you what it needs.

When the mind-body is working properly, gaining 2 pounds feels uncomfortable.

When the mind-body is working properly, exercising feels good.

When it isn’t working correctly, the mind-body connection short circuits and bad habits are now telling the body what to do. The wrong signals are sent, the body reacts compensating as it can with buffering on food, it gets fatter, more imbalanced and ultimately sick, the mind ignores all these signs of distress, as the brain by nature thinks change is no good and too hard!
